| "This product
has radically improved with the rebranding to CyberPatrol.
As a former HACK myself, I stumbled upon CyberPatrol
when my mother-in-law wanted it removed from her
PC. After several hours of registry hacks and other
tricks to remove the filter, I could not. I had
to call the company, then get my mother-in-law on
the phone (since it was not my PC) to get help in
removing it/getting around it. Like a volume knob,
you can turn the sensitivity to any level you want.
A good example is the violence settings. I had thought
that I had a good setting for violence, when I discovered
that a red X over a place on CNN.com was actually
an article with pictures about a terrorist attack
in Israel that I wanted to read. Even subtle sites
(well, not so subtle anymore), like clothing manufacturers
- even the slightest tempting outfits can be filtered
out. It's all configurable and works great for $40
per year." - reviewed 5/12/2004 by Scott

"SurfWatch didn't
really filter much and the software settings in
it wouldn't even work. It forced you to update (download)
a huge update database monthly, which was extremely
slow, tying up your computer for maybe 40 minutes
(when it didn't hang)! On our tenth month, during
its download, it crashed such that you had to hit
the power button. Upon restart, our computer was
dead to the world. It had crashed our OS such that
it was impossible even for Apple technical support
to fix it. The only way to fix the computer was
to reinstall the entire OS. Everything was lost.
SurfWatch wouldn't even help us. In fact, you could
hardly talk to a human, just an answering service
that knew nothing about their software! Plus SurfWatch
went out of business and the new name/product was
called Cyber Patrol. The technical support for both
SurfWatch and Cyber Patrol is not good. The personnel
were just unknowledgeable. They wasted a huge amount
of our time, gave us the run-around, having no clue
what they were doing (nor did they even care), and
they never got the software working correctly on
our iMac. I give SurfWatch (and Cyber Patrol) my
lowest rating."

| "I've been using
Surf Watch and have been served very well by this
filtering product. My accountability partner has
the password. I can't get in, around or through
the software without the password - which is a good
thing. I would recommend it highly. " -
