this filter. The filter override does help when I need
to look online for a swimming suit ;o) Seriously, once
while I was watching my daughter clicked on a link for
jokes and this awful porn started popping up. Everytime
I closed one another would open I had to delete her whole
user file to get rid of it. Thankfully I was there to
see what really happened. I searched immediatly for a

"A+ filtering has been
pretty good, but unfortunately there are a few holes that
I have alerted them to for about 3 years now and no one
has taken it seriously and fixed it. They just tell me
this isn't possible or that I don't have the software
set up correctly. I have reinstalled the software, and
I have it installed on three different machines in my
home. All of them will let me access newsgroups with the
***.repost designation at the end no matter what the content
of the newsgroup is. There are several newsgroups that
have a lot of pornography on them and have erotica, etc.
in the name of the newsgroup that are not blocked by A+.
This is why I have not resubscribed to Hedgebuilders,
and I am looking at other filters to see if they do a
better job."

for a solid filter that supports the Macintosh platform
and A+ does it and does it well. Tech support is great
too! A solid filter by proxy, which is great because there
is no program on my Mac, and browse speed is practically

| "I installed this and
had no problems running it. This is an excellent solution
for those who are concerned about their "hacker"
and otherwise technologically advanced children getting
around a filtering tool. I am a systems administrator,
and was impressed at the way it works. Basically, all
requests for web sites go through their server, then the
pages load from the actual site. Positive- 1. Any attempt
to disable the software is prevented, because as soon
as you go to connect to the internet again, the software
starts up again. Very good!! I wish others would start
doing this. 2. Nothing resides on your computer, so it
is very difficult to "get around" the tool and
gain access to an innappropriate site. 3. Tech Support/Customer
Service was GREAT! I emailed them a few questions and
got responses in MINUTES! 4. Pricing is very reasonable.
Especially if you are a homeschooling parent or someone
in the ministry. That is a good thing in this world we
live in where temptation is at every corner. 5. Uninstall
requires a password from THEM. That means not just anyone
can walk up and uninstall the software. It prevents hacking
because they use a Random Generator to produce the unlock
key. Very nice. Negatives- 1. It slows down access to
web sites. I use cable and am accustomed to very high
speed internet access. For a page to take 2-4 times as
long to load is enough to drive me crazy. 2. If a web
site is legitimate, and you need to access it, you'll
have to wait until they add it to the list. 3. Doesn't
block all ads. This is something Cybersitter will do,
and that is NICE. It speeds up your computer, because
it means no ads, appropriate or not. All in all, I would
recommend this software. I just can't use it for myself.
If they could come up with some method of caching appropriate
sites (even in an encrypted file) to speed up access,
that would be a tremendous boost to performance. I recommend
it, but warn that it may slow you down a bit. If this
as an acceptable trade-off to have well-filtered internet
access, then buy it! Remember, in order to install it,
you must give them a credit card #. No free trial like

material while allowing me access to legitimate sites.
It is a very small program to run and has caused me no
problems while installing, running or uninstalling other

service is as good as you advertised it to be! Not once
have I stumbled onto an undesirable site--with one exception,
however. I recently did some research about Ouija boards.
I was utterly amazed how many occult web-sited I could
have gotten into if I so desired--without warning from
your filtering service. I would therefore urge you to
make your service even better by blocking occult web-sites
as well, lest our children and young people would inadvertently
and unsuspectingly be sucked into the world of the occult.

ever a problem (for instance I have my own website and
use a company for hosting, and one of the sites they hosted
from a different customer had some questionable language
in its title...but it was quickly resolved when I contacted
customer service!) One suggestion I might add, have you
considered using scripture as a part of your warnings,
or messages on blocked pages? The power of scripture is
amazing and I think could help any temptations when they
come...just a thought..I don't know how you'd implement
it or anything..maybe a daily scripture that would appear
when you log-in or something like that could work too...anyway
just throwing out idea's..thanks again for the service,
and thanks for the discount seeing as I am a college student

| internet filter for the last
two weeks and am going to discontinue the service because
it does not filter out everything. I have purposely tried
to find ways around the filter (not in anything special
other than to use variant searches) and there have been
many ways through it. While most conventional stuff is
filtered out, I have found it especially easy to get to
hard core pornography sites by using Spanish search terms.
In most cases there is partial filtering in these sites
but one could find an endless supply of still XXX photos
and even some porn videos. Also, in chat rooms, I have
been able to call up profiles of people which post nude/porn
photos. There have been other issues as well that are
of concern but less important. Overall not bad but if
someone wanted to find porn under this filter they could

to the beta version of Windows XP (Microsoft's next operating
system). This caused my old filtering software to stop
working. Rather than wait for it to catch up, I switched
to A+ / HedgeBuilders. It installed quickly and works
great with Windows XP. Other than a brief initial delay,
I see no speed degradation over my DSL line. I am now
recommending this product to all of my friends!"
